My name is Dereje Jebessa Feyissa, I am an Ethiopian. I’m applying for the scholarship award posted MA in Tourism or MBA (or Any Other Relative Field), Dated Tuesday, July 07 2014.
Many pull and push factors made me to apply for this scholarship, but more than any other factor, the field which I am applying is my perfect choice and the University and the country offering this scholarship are my childhood dreams. Learning in developed country is learning the civilized culture, learning the country’s long lasted all-rounded experience and technology on this regard.
From the push factor perspective, given the huge tourism resources that my country, Ethiopia, owns, it has not yet started to use a spoon of the ocean. Having in hand many varieties of tourism resources, the country is still poor…still unvisited…under managed and not benefited not as it deserves but even to smallest possible fraction.
A land of beauty and a land of poverty, isn’t it conflicting? This paradoxical manifestation of my country, being now its highest time to go for solution necessitate me to dream for farther education and wander everywhere in search of it then to pursue my knowledge in the tourism sector or any other relative field.
My BA research is entitled as “Trends of Tourism Promotional Activities in Adama, Eastern Showa Zone” My research output revealed that the site on mention is unarguably worth a visit and deserves to support itself from tourism. Quite unfortunately however, the sole fact of resource abundance could not guarantee a commensurable gain from the tourism industry. In line with my bigger discourse of assessing the tourism potential of the site to promoting to as alleviate poverty, I found many controversies and debatable issues behind why tourism failed to secure the society, but one solid fact stood undisputed…the site or the country does certainly have shortage of tourism professionals.
Worst of all, there is neither PHD candidate nor program in the country. Two university with a capacity of 20 students each per annual have started masters programs last year, with is unthinkable to get chance to learn there as older people who served the government for decades and above are prioritized and given the place for grant.
This is another push factor that pressed me to spot blessed institutions like yours and provide me urgent help on face to face education.
Lastly but not list manifestation of my country, land of poverty and conflicting the same is true. So please help me to goal (or achieve) may dream and wish in this scholarship will be become true. Hopefully looking your willingness
