2018 Emory University Scholarships in Georgia, USA – Apply! Emory University offers partial to full merit-based scholarships as part of the Emory University Scholar Programs. The aim of the campus scholar community is to empower students, through distinct resources and support, to reach their full potential and have a notable impact on the university, Atlanta, and the greater global community.

The Application Process – Deadline: November 15.

To be guaranteed consideration for the Emory University Scholar selection process students must submit all required application materials by November 15. Applicants will need to select one of Emory’s three admission decision plans (Early Decision I, Early Decision II, or Regular Decision).

Please note:

  • Students who wish to be considered must answer “yes” to the question on their application that says “Do you wish to be considered for scholars merit?”
  • You do not have to apply Early Decision to be considered for the Scholar Program.
  • Students applying Early Decision I (EDI) may apply for the Scholar Programs but need to meet the EDI November 1 deadline for all applicant materials.
  • All students, regardless of citizenship, can be considered for the Scholars Programs.
  • Applicant no longer need to be nominated by a high school guidance/college counselor to be considered for the Emory University Scholar Programs, and not additional nomination forms are required.

Timeline

November 15: Emory University Scholar Programs application deadline
October–January: Application review by Admission, Scholars, and Faculty committees
By February 15: Scholar notifications announced
Early April: Finalist awards and Scholar Programs membership announced
May 1: Enrollment deposit deadline

Selection of scholarships is highly competitive. Scholarships are renewable for a total of eight regular academic year semesters of undergraduate study, provided students maintain high standards of personal and academic excellence and meet semester and annual requirements of their Program (details provided upon acceptance).

Applicants to the Emory University Scholar Programs not selected as finalists will continue to be considered for admission under their selected admission plan.

How do I apply to be considered for the Scholar Programs?

Students who wish to apply must respond “Yes” to the following question presented on the Common Application or Coalition Application:

The aim of the scholar community at Emory University is to empower students, through distinct resources and support, to reach their full potential and have a notable impact on the university, Atlanta, and greater global community. Are you interested in being considered for the Emory University Scholar Programs (all application materials for ED1 due November 1st; all application materials for ED2 and RD due November 15)?

No additional essay is required at the time of application. Selected finalists, who will be notified by February 15, may be required to submit an additional Scholar essay in advance of the spring Scholar Visit Program.

Do all application materials need to be submitted by the November 15 deadline?

Yes. to be considered for the Emory University Scholar Programs, applicants must submit all required application materials by the November 15 deadline. Even if applying for the EDII or RD application plans, which have later application deadlines, one must still meet the November 15 deadline to be guaranteed consideration for any merit-based scholarship review.

If I want to apply Early Decision I and for the Emory University Scholar Programs, what deadline do I need to meet?

Students applying Early Decision I may apply for the Scholar Programs but need to meet the November 1 deadline for all application materials. If a student’s ability to enroll depends on receiving a specific amount of merit and/or financial aid (including merit-based scholarships), we strongly encourage the student NOT to apply Early Decision. Scholar Program Finalist awards are not finalized or announced until early April, long after the deposit deadline for both Early Decision I and Early Decision II.

Do I need to be nominated by a high school official or guidance counselor?

In the past students needed to be nominated for the Emory University Scholar Programs. Starting with the 2013-2014 application cycle there is no longer a nomination process. High School Guidance Counselors may still submit supplemental nomination recommendation letters if they choose. However, it is not required.

When will I know if I’m a finalist?

Finalists will be notified by February 15. Students who are not selected as finalists will continue to be considered by our Admission Committee for admission under the decision plan they selected. Please know that applying to the Scholar Programs and not being selected as a finalist has no bearing on the student’s overall admissibility to Emory University.

If I am not selected as a finalist for the Emory University Scholar Programs, can I still be considered for other merit-based awards?

Yes. There are limited merit-based scholarships beyond those associated with the Scholar Programs. Applicants do not need to submit any additional materials to be considered.

As a dual Emory College / Oxford College applicant, can I be selected as a Finalist for one of College’s Scholar program and still gain admission to the other college?

Yes, applicants may be selected as a finalist for a specific Scholar Program and still gain admission to the other college. For example, a student may be selected as a finalist for Emory Scholars and also gain admission to Oxford College. As well, a student may be selected as a finalist for Oxford Scholars and also gain admission to Emory College. However, a student’s Scholar Program and scholarship designation will only be for one College.

If I am selected as a Goizueta Scholar does that guarantee admission into the Business School?

Yes. Selected Goizueta Scholars will gain admission to Emory College or Oxford College, based on their application preference, as well as guaranteed admission into the Goizueta Business School following their sophomore year.
